This is one of the most troubling aspects of the American-Israeli relationship.
Our country helped create Israel in 1948, and ever since, we have been paying upwards of $6 Billion every year to support it. With population of 7150000, that amounts to a cash giveaway of approx. $850 per man, woman and child in Israel, not counting other goodies like military assistance, technology transfer and other hidden help.
What do we get in return?
Israel spying on our sensitive technology and military secrets.
On the top of it, we have this sinister lobby that is controlling our foreign policy and our defense establishment.
This is political corruption gone to the extremes and loss of our sovereignty to these undesirable elements.
But the worst of all is their infiltration into our highest levels of Government via PNAC, and pushing us into an unethical, illegal, unconstitutional and immoral war with Iraq by these cowards.
With "friends" like these, who needs enemies?

One more aspect hidden from our view is the Israeli-Arab wars and there effect on our cost of gaoline. Let us not forget that as a direst result of these wars, the Saudis and other Arab oil producing countries banded together and created OPEC in 1970's and created the first major economic shock to our country since the Depression.
This is when the oil blackmail started and we became slaves of the Arab oil states!
It is about time we shook this burden off our shoulders and stood firm for our own interest.
We must do this before we get snookered into a war with Iran. The Israeli Defense establishment has already started goading us along this destructive path.
Enough is enough!
Let us put America First!
Let Israel take care of itself.

Once again zionists use cries of anti-semitism to cover up crimes against humanity and treason to america. In fact, a number of the zioncons in the bush administration were long ago caught in treason by the FBI - unfortunately their trials were squelched by politicians.

... Haganah Assasination
Shortly thereafter, Jacob de Haan, a distinguished Dutch diplomat who was then leader of Agudath Israel in Palestine, initiated talks with Arab leaders with a view toward establishments of a state there in which Jews and Arabs would have equal rights. He hoped to forestall creation of a Zionist state. Despite threats to his life, de Haan, fully aware of the dangers of a Zionist state, continued his talks and negotiations. On the eve of his departure in 1924 for Britain to meet with authorities, he was assassinated by the Haganah, the Zionist paramilitary force, in the center of Jerusalem as he came from evening prayers. More than a half a century ago, this devout and visionary Jew gave his life in a fight that he considered paramount, at a time when the world at large was still blind and deaf to the difficulties and problems a future Zionist state would entail.

Zionist Collaboration with the Nazis
... Zionist factions competed for the honor of allying to Hitler. By 1940-41, the "Stern Gang," among them Yitzhak Shamir, later Prime Minister of Israel, presented the Nazis with the "Fundamental Features of the Proposal of the National Military Organization in Palestine (Irgun Zvai Leumi) Concerning the Solution of the Jewish Question in Europe and the Participation of the NMO in the War on the Side of Germany."

THE JEWS OF IRAQ
By Naeim Giladi
"I write this article for the same reason I wrote my book: to tell the American people, and especially American Jews, that Jews from Islamic lands did not emigrate willingly to Israel; that, to force them to leave, Jews killed Jews; and that, to buy time to confiscate ever more Arab lands, Jews on numerous occasions rejected genuine peace initiatives from their Arab neighbors. I write about what the first Prime Minister of Israel called 'cruel Zionism'. I write about it because I was part of it."

DR,
Please save your "Antisemitism" rant for some other comment.
You must know by now that the State of Israel and Judaism are two distinct entities. I have tremendous respect for Judaism, and I count a lot of people of Jewish faith among my friends. They are very caring and compassionate people, and a lot of them living within the State of Israel do not agree - in fact abhor - the policies perpetuated by the State. In fact, a substantial majority of them want to live in peace and harmony with the Palestinians. It is an unfortunate mix of religious extremist elements and greedy politicians that have allowed such parties to have a chokehold on the politics in general and Government in particular. Because neither Labor nor Likud can form a majority government, these extremist parties - mostly controlled by emigre from Eastern Europe - have become the power-brokers and are holding true democracy hostage.

Same thing goes for American handouts to the State of Israel. Most people of Jewish faith do not like it, because they think it compromises their independence, and they also look suspiciously at Israel's clandestine activities and political corruption in American politics.
So, please spare me your snide remarks about antisemitism. Instead, if you choose to learn more about this issue, you would be a better-informed and better person.
Peace and Blessings!
Shalom!

And yes, hyperbola,
Thanks for bringing these unknown and bizzare facts to light. Such things must be brought into our discussions and made available to our citizens so that they can make an informed decision.
We can have peace and friendly relations with the rest of the world, if we want to. Knowledge of facts will be the only tool we need to get proper bearings!

searchbeam I cannot add other than to say America HAS been biased in attempting peace between the two sides. Then Americans wonder why the Arabs hate us and the world understands and abhors our direction.
The final issue, raise anything real about this one sided policy or criticize Israel in any fashion and you will be branded an Anti Semite like the post below. Like Lieberman many of the Jewish faith owe their allegiance to Israel not America where they reside. All ethnic and religious groups have these abominable creatures inhabiting their own sphere to the detriment of others.

You are absolutely right, my friend!
We have a lot of political and opportunistic parasites feeding on the tree of our democracy. The sooner we remove them and put some strong measures in place to stop it from happening again, the better we will be as a country.
Time has come to clean the basements and attics of our politics!
Among all the candidates aspiring to become our next President, Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul seem like the only ones that can do it.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if they can form a unification ticket and win this elections?
That will be the death knell for the swamp of dirty politics that we are stuck in right now!
Peace and Blessings!

This tail has been wagging the dog way too long.
The middle east will be in disarray until we balance our approach to Israel.

Good point, Simon!
The sooner we Americans start understanding the difference between Zionism and Judaism, the sooner we can bring our Middle East Foreign policy on even keel. The State of Israel is a creature that has its own rules and operates on a different plane than the true followers of Jewish faith. The multi-party system there breeds the kind of political double dealings and blackmail that is the source of most of the trouble in the Middle east.
During the past half century, the only two presidents who have truthfully followed the path of an honest broker were Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. Every other President's hands were in the oil barrel and they were very "Close" to the Saudi Arabian monarchs and their shady dealings.
We must maintain a true friendship with Israel, but should not accept or tolerate their meddling in our affairs or their operating a nest of spies within our country. And the $6 billion annual cash give-away to Israel must come to an end.
